The author himself describes the genesis of the love song cycle in the preface to the work: “I was enchanted by the Krumlov Palace, later on I was enchanted by the rich beauty of medieval poetry; and when I became enchanted with my chosen one, it was as if the two love song cycles on medieval texts wrote themselves.
The concert cycle “Six Love Songs”, envision more a maid of honour, with me as a knight holding a harp, and the “Songs with Lute”, where I was more a squire, playing the lute for a little chamber maid in the servant’s window.” The six songs for lower voice and guitar are set to medieval texts in Czech and their original languages.
