O sing to the Lord was commissioned by Peter Asprey and premiered by the Choir of Holy Sepulchre, London, as the introit for a special service to mark St Cecilia’s Day in 2024. The uplifting text, taken from Psalm 96, has inspired composers across the ages, and this new setting explores a contrapuntal sound where the vocal lines, all derived from the opening melody, are constantly in harmonious dialogue.
