The Battle of Legnano is an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi with a libretto by Salvatore Cammarano. The world premiere was on January 27, 1849, at the Teatro Argentina in Rome. It was a great success at the time, thanks to the strong patriotic overtones in the plot. The Symphony is challenging but very effective.
