Giuseppe Verdi, when he was elected deputy in the first Italian Parliament, at Cavour's request composed the Hymn of the Nations for the inauguration of the Universal Exhibition in London in 1862. The composition merges the various national anthems into a new musical element, intertwining and superimposing them. The Verdian style remains predominant, at times recalling operatic atmospheres. This transcription is an extract of the most significant parts of the Hymn.
