Organist of Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford and a friend of Vaughan Williams, Henry G. Ley made these four transcriptions – of the slow movements of A Sea Symphony and A London Symphony, of the Alla Sarabanda from the Phantasy Quintet, and of ‘Antiphon’ from Five Mystical Songs – with the composer’s approval.
