Franz Schubert’s Piano Sonata op. 143 in a minor was composed in 1823 after his large “Wanderer Fantasy”. With its formal cohesion and mature originality, this a-minor Sonata initiated a new phase in Schubert’s sonata oeuvre. The composer dispensed here with all pianistic brilliance.
