Prokofiev's ‘War and Peace’ is an epic opera in 13 scenes, plus an overture and an epigraph based on Leo Tolstoy's novel. It, contrasts the ‘Peace’ of Russian high society with the ‘War’ of Napoleon's 1812 invasion, focusing on the intertwined love stories and fates of Natasha Rostova, Prince Andrei Bolkonsky, and Pierre Bezukhov amidst historical upheaval, especially the burning of Moscow.
