The fact that this anthem is based on stanzas from three beloved old hymns, "O Jesus, My Savior," "I Love Thee," and "My Jesus, I Love Thee," gives it a feeling of familiarity though the melody may not be. The tune is EXPRESSION, a Sacred Harp tune from 1844. Women's and men's voices are featured separately both in unison and in two parts.
