This rhapsody was composed in 2005 on the occasion of the project „Solowerke für Wettbewerb“ (Solo Pieces for Contests) in the Gmunden region (Austria). The rhapsody starts rather unconventionally with a cadenza that leads to a lyrical andante in the classical A-B-A format. The fast ending part in rondo form puts the alto saxophone as virtuoso solo instrument in the spotlight, as opposed to the lyrical beginning.
