“Spirit of Freedom” is a commissioned composition for the Kurpfalz Realschule Kaiserslautern. The work is conceived as a musical journey that traces the development of young people — from the shared foundation of learning to the unfolding of an individual, free personality.

The first, fanfare-like section represents the canon of knowledge, the foundation laid through education, school, and collective learning.
