For this impressive opening work by Menno Bosgra, the composer uses a kind of brass band theme which is alternated with a solemn chorale. Both themes are orchestrated differently and each instrumental group takes turns playing. This makes the piece extremely colourful. At the end, both themes are combined with each other.
