This Hymn was composed in 1901 on a text by Biagio Allievo. He graduated in law in Turin and began a career as a lawyer, dedicating himself especially to the defense of criminal cases, obtaining great fame. However, he never neglected to dedicate himself to Literature and Poetry. We owe to him the hymn of the Italian Red Cross “Di viva fiamme, di sangue vivo”, set to music by Ruggero Leoncavallo in 1901 (while other verses of his inspired Jules Massenet).
