Werner Richard Heymann was the musical director of Trude Hesterberg's legendary cabaret "Wilde Bühne", the most important literary and musical cabaret of the early 1920s. Against the backdrop of political crises, inflation and reactionary attacks, Walter Mehring, Kurt Tucholsky, Marcellus Schiffer, Klabund, Leo Heller and many others coined a new literary style: contemporary, realistic, full of brittle poetry, but also ironic, the chansons tell of the big city, the women's fates, passing fashion...
