11 Children’s Songs gives students the chance to play rhythmical variations of well-known melodies. The parts for strings are written in the first position except for the Poor Little Teddy where the cello line introduces playing in positions.
The melody line is alternating between all the strings and gives the violas and cellos the equal chance to play the melody and small solos.
The music can be performed with a string orchestra and piano soloists or with a traditional piano quintet. The part for 3rd violin can be used if there are no violas available.
All pieces have been performed and tested during a 15-years time with various string orchestras and pianists in music schools in Finland.
