Ewazen wrote his percussion concerto, Songs to the Banks of Ayr, based on four poems by Robert Burns, for Evelyn Glennie. The second movement, Rattlin' Roarin' Willie, is a joyous dance between "fiddlin' Willie" and percussionist on xylophone and vibraphone, "providing a nice energetic beat with the snare drum."
