This striking composition based on a poem by Sara Teasdale (1884–1933) leads us through the magical Christmas events in Bethlehem of yore and by means of different voice combinations creates suspenseful and diverse sound effects – from unison to two-part passages, alternating between female and male voices, to a large six-part choral sound.
